Dear Arizona

Dear Arizona,

Hey Arizona. I bet it is hot this time of year! I sure am glad I live in Cleveland right now for a couple of reasons. Not because Lebron James left, not because we can win a championship in any major sport, and especially not because our Cleveland Browns have been miserable for years. The reason I am happy is because you took away Derek Anderson so we could pick up Jake Delhomme and move in a positive direction for the first time in our reborn franchise.

There are a couple of reasons that is so good. So far, Jake Delhomme has looked better than what we have seen since 1999. Ya see, when we had Derek Anderson, the only thing that happened was uncertainty at our quarterback position. He was good enough to be considered, but when you have to rely on him, he would usually end up frustrating fans in Cleveland. Bad decision making, extreme inaccuracy, and lack of pocket presence got old as he continued to destroy promising drives time after time. Brady Quinn... Derek Anderson... Brady Quinn... Derek Anderson..... that is all we would hear about, which led to both of them feeling like they had something to prove. When it got to gametime, they both forced things, which led to bad decisions as well as turnovers.

The reason I write this to you is because that is exactly what is happening to you in Arizona right now. Matt Leinart is forcing things, and getting frustrated. The worst thing you could have done to a quarterback who already had to deal with being compared to Kurt Warner, was to bring in Derek Anderson. Now you have mentally messed with Leinart's mindframe, and made him think his job is in Jeopardy. Trust me when I tell you this: DO NOT THINK FOR ONE SECOND THAT DEREK ANDERSON IS YOUR ANSWER. The only thing he is going to do is put doubt into the mind of coaches and players about who the quarterback/leader is. Believe me, Cleveland knows.
One more thing... Thank you for taking Derek Anderson, and putting him on the other side of the country!
Love,
Cleveland
