The Best of the AFC

So, it is about a few weeks away till opening week.

And it got me thinking who are the top 12 teams in the NFL, I will break it down by Conference.

In the 1st installment, we have the AFC:

1. Indianapolis Colts:

Strength: The obvious strength of the Colts is at QB with Peyton Manning, he is without a doubt a top 3 QB in the NFL.

Weakness: I believe the weakness is there Secondary, no one knows if Bob Sanders will return 100% healthy, and they got rid of Marlin Jackson, so it will be interesting to see what that secondary can do.

2. New England Patriots:

Strength: The Pats strength in my opinion is there WR core, with such names as Randy Moss, Julian Edelman, and the returning Wes Welker.

Weakness: That CB core, they still didn’t really address getting a top notch guy, to replace the departed Asante Samuel from a few years ago to the Eagles.

3. Baltimore Ravens:

Strength: The entire Defense, but mainly the LB core is there strength. With Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs as leaders you know they will be a team that is up there as a top team in the AFC and NFL.

Weakness: There weakness is to me, the WR core, yes they got a true #1 in Anquan Boldin, but besides him, they have a older Derrick Mason and Donte Stallworth, who needs to prove he is in shape and can come back from being away from football.

4. New York Jets:

Strength: RB core, they have 3 top notch runners, in Shonn Greene, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Joe McKnight. It would not surprise me if they become a run first team.

Weakness: The O Line, they lost Alan Faneca, and will rely on a rookie from UMASS, in Vladimir Duccase. I loved Duccase coming out, but hopefully his journey isn’t a rough one. Plus with Mangold wanting a new deal, will he become a distraction.

5. San Diego Chargers:

Strength: There strength is to me is the RB core, with Rookie Ryan Mathews and veteran Darren Sproles. Both are dynamic, but in there different ways.

Weakness: The WR core, without Vincent Jackson signed, they will rely on younger players to fill the void.

6. Houston Texans:

Strength: WR core, with Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter, they look strong at that position.

Weakness: CB, they needed to replace Dunta Robinson, and didn’t get a major player to replace a All Pro type CB.
